Surrounded by fields and gently rolling hills, Pasture Cottage is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Whether walking the fells (glorious walks from cottage), fishing on Tunstall Reservoir, biking, horse riding in Hamsterley Forest, visiting the many historic landmarks or just relaxing in the garden, time spent at Pasture Cottage will refresh and invigorate the senses.
Great attention to detail has gone into the decoration and facilities, which have recently been upgraded to a very high standard. Visit Britain has given the cottage a 4 star rating.
The village of Wolsingham (a 10 minute walk from the cottage) offers a good range of small shops, pubs and recreational facilities, including an indoor heated swimming pool. Wolsingham Show, reputed to be the oldest agricultural show in England, brings a fun-fair to the village and is held during the first week in September, with Stanhope Show the following weekend.
To appreciate the surrounding area, a car is essential. Durham (20 minutes), Darlington (35 minutes), Newcastle (45 minutes) and the MetroCentre are within easy access for shopping, entertainment, dining, theatres and The Sage Music Centre. Pasture Cottage is well situated for a day's visit to the historical city of York and is 10 minutes from the A68, main route to Scotland.

When coming from the South, drive through Fir Tree Village, then take turning on A689 at roundabout to Wolsingham. Drive up the main street, past recreation ground on left then take turning to right sign posted to Tunstall Reservoir. After exactly 1 mile, High Doctor Pasture is on right hand side, Pasture Cottage is at the end of farmstead through gate on left. From North, before Tow Law Village turn right to Wolsingham at Brown Horse Pub, directions are then as above.
From Durham Station - 25 minutes, Darlington station: 35 minutes, Newcastle station: 45 minutes
